Vegetarian Sloppy joes

Messy, Cheesy full of flavor, and quick!



Ingredients:

  • 1 block of ''ground beef'' tofu (or 1 pound ground beef)

  • 2 Onion diced

  • 2 Bell Pepper diced

  • 4 Celery stalk

  • 1 garlic bulb minced

  • 3/4 cup of Ketchup

  • 3/4 cup Chili Sauce

  • 1 can Tomato soup

  • 1 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce

  • 1 cup vegetable broth (if you use the tofu ''ground beef)

  • 1 tbsp cumin

  • 1 Tbsp Chili

  • 1 Tbsp Oregano

  • 1/2 Tsp chili flakes

  • 1 tsp smoked paprika

  • 1 tsp maple syrup (for acidity)

  • Cheese of choice to taste, ( I did a mix of mozzarella and cheddar, but Monterey jack would be good)

Steps :

  1. Cut all the vegetable

  2. Cook the onion, and garlic until soften.

  3. Add the tofu and cook for 2 min.

  4. Mix chili sauce, ketchup Worcestershire sauce, tomato sauce together.

  5. Add the celery to the onion garlic and tofu and cook for 2 min.

  6. Add the sauce mix, and adjust the liquid level with vegetable broth.

  7. Cook until hot.

  8. Put the sloppy joe mix on hamburger bread, cover with too much cheese, and cook in the oven at 400F until melted golden.

  9. Enjoy !
