General Tao Tofu Balls

They are Sweet, packed with flavor, tender i don't think i will eat general tao any other way!



Ingredients :

Tofu Balls :

  • 1 bloc of tofu (454g)

  • 1 & 1/4 cup of panko breadcrumbs

  • 1/3 cup of dehydrated onion and chives mixed (ratio of choice)

  • 1/3 cup of vegetable broth

  • 1 Tbsp of minced ginger

  • 2 Tsp of minced garlic

  • 2 eggs

  • salt pepper to taste

  • white pepper to taste

  • 1/4 tsp msg

Other ingredients needed:

  • Oil

  • Cornstarch


Steps:

  1. Add all the ingredient into a food processor and blend until you reach a granulated texture.

  2. Form balls with the mixture and set them aside in a plate.

  3. Cover the tofu balls with cornstarch on all sides.

  4. Cook in a nonstick pan on each side for a total of approximately 5 min.

  5. Add into the air fryer basket and cook for an additional 10 to 15 min, shake the air fryer basket every 5 min to prevent the balls from sticking.


General Tao Sauce:

  • 1/3 cup white vinegar

  • 1/3 cup red wine vinegar

  • 1/2 cup water

  • 3/4 cup brown sugar

  • 2 Tbsp oyster sauce

  • 2 Tbsp soy sauce

  • 1/2 Tsp sriracha (more if you like it spicy)

  • 1/2 Tsp minced ginger

  • 1/2 Tsp (or more) minced garlic

  • 2 Tbsp oil


Steps:

  1. Mix all the ingredients into a bol.

  2. Add the sauce into a hot pan, cook for 1 min.

  3. Add the tofu balls into the pan.

  4. Make a cornstarch slurry (2 tbsp cornstarch 2 tbsp water)

  5. Add the cornstarch slurry into the sauce and mix until it thickens

  6. Serve with rice and veggies of choices.
