This mac and cheese was the perfect sweet and salty combo!!
Ingredients:
500G uncooked macaroni
1 lb diced bacon cooked
3 Tbsp Butter
3 Tbsp Flour
3 Cup Milk (or substitute)
3 Cup Sharp Cheddar Cheese
3 Tsp Smoked paprika
4 Cup diced Apples peeled
Chives ( a lot ) to taste
1/2 cup parmesan cheese
1/2 cup panko
Salt, Pepper to taste
Onion and nutmeg (optional) to taste
Steps:
Cook the pasta according to the instructions.
Melt the butter in a medium sauce pan.
Add the flour and whisk the flour and butter to make a roux.
Once the butter and flour is foaming add slowly the milk and whisk until all the flour chunk are fully dissolved in the sauce.
At low heat, add the cheese and mix until fully melted.
Add the bacon, apple, and seasoning and transfer into an oven safe container.
Place in the over to broil until golden, enjoy hot.
Makes 6 to 8 portions. Can be kept in the fridge for a few days, or in the freezer for up to 3 month.
